Man accused of having loaded gun, drugs

A ST MICHAEL man is expected to appear in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court today charged with firearm, ammunition and drug offences.

He is 22-year-old Suleman Ayyub Ekalvaya of George Street, Belleville.

According to police, officers on mobile patrol confronted him next to a parked car on August 8 and he ran away.

The vehicle was searched and a loaded firearm and cannabis were allegedly discovered.

Ekalvaya later turned himself into police accompanied by an attorney.

He faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a quantity of ammunition, possession of 588 grammes of cannabis, possession with intent to supply and trafficking. (PR/NB)
