CADETS WERE GIVEN one final instruction during the closing ceremony of the Barbados Cadet Corps (BCC) summer camp on Monday. They were told to be “proper” citizens.

The advice came from Lieutenant Colonel James Bradshaw, corps commandant, who encouraged the non-commissioned officers (NCOs) at the Barbados Defence Force’s Paragon base, to make a difference in society. He said that it is the aim of the youth organisation, which had 976 cadets registered, to “push leaders into society”.

The ceremony marked the end of the five-week summer camp, and highlighted the achievements of NCOs who underwent a week  of intensive training during the programme. Participants learnt leadership and instruction skills as a part of the senior NCO leadership course. The training also entailed a full physical training instructor course in which everyone performed well.
