‘Total effort’ needed

MEMBERS OF THE SPEIGHTSTOWN community must play their part in the town’s enhancement if they want it town to survive.

This was made clear by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Senator Irene Sandiford–Garner as she addressed a large crowd gathered in the northern town on Saturday night for the official opening of the Speightstown Alive initiative.

“The Government started [and] I now urge community groups, business persons in Speightstown to get on board because it has to be sustainable and you cannot expect that the Government will do it every time,” she said.

“We have shown you what can happen in Speightstown, it is now time for you to take the baton, run with it and make your community thrive economically as well as at the entertainment and community level.” (SDB Media)
