STEDSON “RPB” WILTSHIRE’S response to the quality of this year’s Crop Over music was anything but spontaneous.
The calypso legend said the “vibe” of the music had changed after he was presented with $15 001 as Starcom Network’s newest People’s Monarch winner at Cave Shepherd, Broad Street, yesterday.
The St Philip-born calypsonian, in the business for 34 years, credits his success to keeping up with the times.
“I think that I’ve been able to move with the times; remaining cognisant of what is going on in the marketplace. Every day things change. At this time, it’s clear that the times are changing even quicker. The actual sound is quite different from what was happening way back in the day and a lot of the songs that are being made today are songs that people can easily sing along with – it’s a completely different vibe.”
