Gorg out of Party Monarch Competition

PARTY MONARCH GORG will not be defending his title.

The National Cultural Foundation stated in a release it was informed by Gorg this morning that he would not able to compete due to medical reasons.

As a result, reserve Kirk Brown will take his place.

The Party Monarch forms part of the Soca Royale competition which will be held at Bushy Park on July 26.

The Sweet Soca competition comprises the other segment. Biggie Irie is the defending monarch.

The full statement follows:

This morning, Saturday, July 18, the National Cultural Foundation was officially advised by the management for Omar Sobers, stage name Gorg, that due to medical reasons he is unable to perform and therefore will not be defending his title in the Party Monarch competition of the upcoming MQI/98.1 the One Soca Royale scheduled to be held at Bushy Park on Sunday, July 26.

Consequently, as per the stated rules of the competition, the reserve Kirk Brown will complete the eight finalists in the competition. (PR/SAT)
