THE WESLEYAN HOLINESS CHURCH will never accept same-sex marriages in Barbados.
That was the emphatic declaration of Wesleyan minister and outgoing district superintendent, Reverend Anthony Worrell.
Calling it a “strange sexual practice”, Worrell told those gathered yesterday at Farley Hill National Park, St Peter for the Barbados District of the Wesleyan Holiness Church’s One Church, One Family open air celebration of oneness in Christ, that though same-sex marriage had gained acceptance in America and was spreading across the world, Barbadians must continue to denounce it.
He urged people to be on their guard because it would ultimately reach these shores. However, he noted that while historically practices which gained currency in the United States usually found their way to Barbados, same-sex marriage was one such trend that Barbadians should never adopt.
