LOOKA LEW: No wrong sins and right sins

QUESTION: If your son told you he was getting married to his boyfriend, yes I said boyfriend, and he wanted you there at the wedding to give him away, would you attend the wedding?

Or if your son sent you a picture of him at the wedding reception sticking the cake with his husband, yes I said husband, would you proudly frame it and display it on the wall of your house?

While you thinking ’bout that, just remember, that with immediate effect, men could now marry men, and women could now marry women in every state all across America, as was ruled by the US Supreme Court last week.

Now what make me laugh, is that prior to the decision, one church pastor up there, vowed to catch afire himself, if the Supreme Court did ever allow such “abomination” to happen.

Well so far he like he can’t find the matches and kerosene oil cause he ain’t do nothing yet.

But let me tell you, from the time that news let go, I see some old fellas and old girls on TV, who was in relationships for over 50 and 60 years hugging and kissing up. I see two old boys in them 80s crying with joy, talking ’bout them gine and get married next week.

So the question some would ask is, when will Barbados follow suit and get with the times and move into the 21st century? Cause this is a big tourism opportunity.

Right now ’bout here, more and more people, accepting the notion that gay people are people too, and they should have the right to love and be with each other if they choose. In other words, we don’t have to condone the lifestyle, but we should not create or keep archaic laws on the books because of our views.

Well, of course, you does hear people talk ’bout what The Bible says about homosexuality. And I does constantly remind people, that if you believe in The Bible, you have to believe in all of it and not the piece that suit your agenda.

So in other words, you can’t be shack up in a house with a man or woman, living in fornication, which The Bible speaks against, and then condemning gay people and quoting Bible passages. What goes for the goose is good for the gander.

And as much Christian society that we supposed to be, there must be separation of church and state when making laws. Hence, the law makes provision for people living in fornication.

So that if a woman is living with a man for a certain amount of years, even though they are not married, and trouble had to break out, she would not leave empty-handed, she would be entitled to piece o’ the house and other things. Under the law she has as much legitimacy as a legally married woman.

I don’t hear the church and Bible thumpers keeping any noise ’bout it, we accept that such living arrangements is part of our culture, we move on.

So in short, if you are so vocal against gay marriage because of what The Bible says, then based on biblical reasons you also have to be just as vocal against people who shacking up.

The other part I don’t understand is that we always hear guv’ment speaking about not discriminating against gays. Which I find amusing, because how can you ask the public not to discriminate but you still have laws on the books which discriminate against gays?

By the way though, I straight as an arrow. See ya.
