Barbados a ‘champion’ of green energy

BARBADOS is on course to become one of the “top five renewable energy producers in the world”, says United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

The senior international diplomat, who was speaking yesterday during a tour of Caribbean LED Lighting Inc. at Lower Estate, St Michael, hailed the island as an international champion of sustainable energy.

And while his visit to the Barbados-based business was brief, Ban said what he had seen was worth commending and that he intended to “talk to many people [about] what I have seen today and I will encourage them to invest more wisely in sustainable energy”.
