THE QUEEN ELIZABETH Hospital’s eye care programme got a boost today with a $10 000 piece of equipment.
The tonometer probe, used to check pressure in the eye, was presented to head of the Ophthalmology Department Dr Trevor Drakes by product trader with Shell Western Supply & Trading Ltd, Deronne Kirton.
Drakes said the portable equipment would go a long way in advancing eye care. He said the device not only makes intraocular pressure measuring a more pleasant experience on all patients, it is suited for helping non-compliant patients such as children because it does not require the patient to sit up.
Kirton said Shell Western had been developing a strategic relationship with the QEH, which had seen the business donating life-saving equipment to the neo-natal department. (TY)
