THE LOW SUPPLY of drugs to treat mental illness is among the problems facing the Psychiatric Hospital.
Two opposition MPs – Cynthia Forde and Santia Bradshaw – made this charge in the House of Assembly yesterday and asked Government to investigate the institution.
Contributing to debate on a bill to amend the Health Services Act, Bradshaw said that an internal memo circulated last March indicated the hospital was “very low” on supplies or “out of stock” of drugs to treat depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
She complained that employees were working “under strenuous conditions” and some were not paid on time. (TY)
