THE QUALITY OF the talent on display on the second night of the LIME/NIFCA Performing Arts Finals was undeniable.
Last Saturday night, the performers showed the judges and audience in the auditorium at Combermere School nothing less than dynamic, high-level performances in music, drama/speech and dance. The audience’s rousing round of applause accorded each performer was evidence that the offerings were of a high standard.
Members of the group Dancin Africa skipped, twisted and turned their way through an inspirational Psalm 121 piece, evidently striking a responsive chord. MC Margaret Allman-Goddard described the inspirational, emotional dance piece as one that had the heads of those present “tied up”.
Meanwhile, Hindsbury Primary School’s What Examples? had a serious message for the nation’s parliamentary representatives. Decked in their outfits suited to Parliament, the students did a re-enactment of the recent episode in Parliament in which the Opposition Leader was ejected from the chamber.
Through a dramatic presentation, the students of St Martins/Mangrove convinced the audience that I Is A Bajan, boasting of the rich culture of the island.
The angelic voices of the St James Secondary School choir did justice to the songs Bridge Over Troubled Water and A Better Day Will Come.
Alexandra student Kareem Agard, no stranger to the NIFCA stage, wowed the audience with the songs It’s Not Raining Anymore and We May Never Pass This Way Again. (AH)
