Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Barbados are getting some precious help in improving their potential to export goods and services.
It’s coming through a programme launched today by the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), an agency of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
According to Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Chris Sinckler the programme called “FINPYME ExportPlus” will help SMEs overcome some of the challenges they face in these difficult economic times.
For the SME sector, which makes up a “significant portion” of the economy, the programme has the potential to lead to expansion, Sinckler said.
He was speaking at the programme’s launch, in the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, before more than 80 business leaders and senior officials.
