Security of Caribbean islands got a tremendous boost today thanks to the contribution of over US$45 million by the United States government to the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative.
Acting Charge d’ Affaires, James Goggin made this disclosure as he delivered remarks during a presentation of Cyber-Forensics Equipment to Regional Police Forces, at the US Embassy in Wildey, St Michael.
The recently implemented initiative is shared between the Caribbean law enforcement community and the United States.
The key objectives of this partnership includes to substantially reduce illicit trafficking, increase public safety and security to promote social justice within the region.
Goggin said security in the Caribbean, which “affects what happens in the United States”, is very important for the islands’ prosperity and safety.
