Both opening Barbados Labour Party (BLP) speakers Peter Phillips and Roger Smith spoke about broken promises of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) to the people of St John.
Addressing a small but appreciative crowd in Massiah Street, Phillips said that St Lucy, where he contested the last election, was like St John – both suffered neglect.
Smith spoke about his disappointment in the way the DLP had treated the people of St John.
He said that instead of focussing on Mara Thompson’s candidacy they were running away from the real issues and suggested the party use the election as a report card.
Phillips and Smith were speaking on behalf of Hudson Griffith, the BLP’s candidate for the St John by-election. (MK)
