Flower lovers flocked to Balls Plantation yesterday for the start of the two-day Barbados Horticultural Society’s annual flower show in Christ Church.
President of the Society Jennifer Weetch noted there was a record number of 47 vendors this year, even though the greenhouse had suffered some damage during Hurricane Tomas and some plants had been lost.
Weetch, who noted there were always financial challenges, said the show was their main fundraiser each year, but said there were also other activities often held on the grounds.
She said the society was hoping to build an arbotorium soon, which would offer a relaxing atmosphere for visitors on the additional seven acres of land belonging to the society. (CT)
