Gun divide

A website is estimating that there are 21 000 guns being held by civilians in Barbados, but Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin says that information is inaccurate.
“I do not believe that Barbados is awash with guns,” he told the SUNDAY?SUN?yesterday after reviewing the site.
GunPolicy.org, which provides information on the gun facts relating to 178 countries, reported that the Barbados Defence Force has 2 080 firearms and the police 1 066.
The information is quoted from a 2007 survey Completing The Count: Civilian Firearms, conducted by Aaron Karp, an American political scientist and proliferation analyst. (MB)
