Absent nurses worries Inniss

THE?MINISTRY?OF?HEALTH is concerned about the level of absenteeism among nurses.
Minister of Health Donville Inniss stated this on Wednesday evening when he addressed the annual Eunice Gibson Memorial Lecture at the Hugh Springer Auditorium, Barbados Workers’ Union headquarters, Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St Michael.
He said that absenteeism, teamwork, resource management and attitudes must be addressed before the issue of getting more staff and money.
“Most nurses go to work every day or night and oftentimes go way beyond the call of duty. But there are some who will find any reason not to come to work and if they do, to underperform and lower morale among the others. It only takes a few to give the profession a bad name and to lower productivity across the board,” Inniss said. (ES)
