Bad seeds

SCHOOLCHILDREN, SOME AT primary school age, are posing a big headache for the Probation Department.
Reporting a definite upsurge in juvenile crime, Deputy Chief Probation Officer Ikin Alleyne said at the top of the worrrying list is an increase in drug use and bullying, which was found at most schools across the island.
“It is widespread among the schools and some schools may not want to admit it because they don’t want to “bring down” the particular school but it is well known that this behaviour is widespread and not only in certain schools,” Alleyne told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday.
Noting that his department was kept busy, dealing daily with such problems, the senior probation officer said the problem must be tackled by all relevant agencies. (TS)
