The Optimist Club OF BARBADOS, Bridgetown, and children from the Sterling Home teamed up at Martin’s Bay, St John, last Saturday to clean up sargassum seaweed.
Thirty-two people, including ten children from the home, eight children of Optimist members, 14 Optimists and friends of Optimists, joined in the effort that began at 6 a.m., ended about 10:30 a.m. and collected 40 bags of seaweed.
The Optimist Club is also working to provide the wards of the home with mentorship and guidance on deportment and etiquette. There are also plans by the club to provide the youth with training to teach them interview skills and about financial planning.
