BAMP meeting today

Doctors will hold an emergency meeting today to discuss the lack of progress in negotiations on their contracts and related matters with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
The WEEKEND?NATION understands that the doctors’ union, the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP), is unhappy with the pace of the talks with the QEH. The hospital has reportedly not responded to proposals from BAMP at the last meeting nearly two months ago.
The most testy issues are doctors’ terms of conditions of contracts, as well as the contract appraisals.
Dr Wayne Clarke, BAMP’s public relations officer, yesterday declined comment on the issue, saying only that the meeting was intended to update the membership on the status of the negotiations.
Also at today’s meeting, which begins at 2:15 p.m.
in the QEH Auditorium, Professor Errol ‘Mickey’ Walrond will speak on the continuing medical education initiative which would make it mandatory for doctors to pursue courses, seminars and other medical educational endeavours to qualify for annual registration.
