Uniting to fight paediatric cancer

The Delegation of the European Union to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean is partnering with the Miss Barbados World to help raise awareness of paediatric cancer in the region, an area in which the European Union is largely involved.
Head of the Political Section of the Delegation, Claude Bochu, met with Miss Barbados World Taisha Carrington yesterday to discuss aspects of the campaign.
Taisha who has been very active in the battle against paediatric cancer, has successfully integrated her passion for art within this fight to undertake her charity project dubbed Heart and Soul. This project focuses on raising funds for children battling cancer and on helping to instil a level of joy into their hearts, through reading and art sessions and various fun days.
Whilst paediatric cancer only accounts for 1 per cent of all human malignancies, it is the second most common cause of death in European children of one year and older.
The European Union has recognised the gravity of the impact of paediatric cancer and has responded by substantially supporting research in paediatric oncology. (PR)
