THE?FOUR?Barbadian boat captains who were rearrested and thrown into a Tobago jail earlier this week were released yesterday afternoon. But they still cannot leave the country.
Speaking on behalf of the distressed crew, Captain Everton Brathwaite, 51, told the DAILY?NATION?yesterday via a telephone interview, that the four captains had been ordered to attend an immigration enquiry on December 6.
The others are Clement Standard, 57, John Walcott, 49 and Williams Moseley, 37.
“We have been told not to leave the country so we have to stay on our boats pending the enquiry. The trial is supposed to be on December 6, but we are trying to get that date moved up to Thursday or Friday,” he said, adding that they expected to pay another fine.
Last Monday, they pleaded guilty to illegally fishing in Tobago and were fined TT$5 000 each.
