I am 16 years old and still at school. During the summer holiday I met a really nice young man (who is also still at school). We met through mutual friends and spent a lot of time together when my friend invited me to stay at her home.
What really hurts me, Christine, is that after the summer holiday was over, he did not seem to have any interest in me. I started to wonder if he had a girlfriend who was out of the island, perhaps spending time with relatives during the holiday time. I asked my friends if this was possible, but they said they could not verify this.
I really love this young man and I do not know what to do. Can you help?

Dear Teen,
I am sure this young man just felt you were a good friend to hang out with. I think you should give him a call if you have his telephone number and ask him what he’s been up to. See what his response is like, but please do not throw yourself at him.
You should concentrate on your school work. If he is willing to be just a dear friend, why not just be a friend to him? Who knows? Perhaps he is also concentrating on his studies.
