Less gas used

WITH MORE BARBADIANS DINING OUT, there has been a progressive decline in the use of natural gas in homes across the country.
Chairman of the National Petroleum Corporation (NPC), Sir Harcourt Lewis, made this disclosure yesterday, saying figures indicated that Bajans were not cooking as much anymore.
Addressing the NPC’s 30th anniversary awards ceremony and Christmas luncheon at The Crane Residential Resort, Sir Harcourt reported: “The average usage for domestic customers decreased over the years from 23 cubic metres per month in 1978 to 11.1 cubic metres per month in 2011.
“This drop is a consequence of the amount of commercial dining that we as Barbadians have progressed to, and away from the home cooking which our parents and spouses were able to do. (YB)
