Push for early bail for boxer

Barbados’ most decorated boxer, Anderson Emmanuel, who was remanded to jail Monday on robbery charges, may be released earlier than he thought.
Emmanuel, Sportsman Of The Year, 2006, could be home with his wife and family for the holidays.
That’s because lawyers acting on his behalf will attempt to have a special bail hearing this week, so he can be released from Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds, St Philip, as soon as possible.
“He wants to be home. We want him to be home with his family until the case is heard,” attorney-at-law Andrew Pilgrim told the DAILY NATION yesterday.
Pilgrim said his firm would try to have Emmanuel reappear before Magistrate Graveney Bannister “as soon as possible” so another argument could be made for bail.
