PRIME MINISTER FREUNDEL STUART has credited the trade union movement and political parties for most of Barbados’ progress over the last three centuries.
But he said the island still has “many Everests to climb”.
“We still have battles to fight; we still have to continue our efforts to create a society of which everybody in this country feels a part,” the Prime Minister said as he addressed a ceremony launching the 1652 Foundation at Oistins yesterday morning.
Speaking to an audience that included descendants of signatories on the site believed to be where the historic Charter of Barbados was signed at the Mermaid Tavern 360 years ago, the Prime Minister said Barbados had not reached its present stage of development by accident.
