THE INCONVENIENCE and difficulty faced by clients of the National Disabilities Unit (NDU) having to climb a flight of stairs to reach the department’s  office is soon to be eliminated.
The NDU, located on the first floor of the old National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) building in Dalkeith, St Michael, will be relocated to a bottom floor office in four months.
Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development Steve Blackett confirmed to the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday that following a visit to the department last week and discussions with officials from the Ministry of Housing on Monday, the move was decided.
The Unit will occupy a ground floor office in the new NUPW building that currently houses the Environmental Protection Department (EPD). The EDP will move to the first floor of the same building.
