An installation connected with the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) has been identified as a possible non-punitive facility to house Cuban Raul T. Garcia who is still being held here two years after his release from jail.
This was revealed to the DAILY NATION by his attorney David Comissiong, who said it followed a recent discussion with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.
“But I would not want to say any more on that and will leave it to the Prime Minister to make any announcements he would want to make on the matter,” Comissiong added.
Earlier this week, Garcia suspended a 29-day hunger strike as Government continued to search for a resolution to his incarceration at HMP Dodds.
Comissiong had said then that getting his client “transferred to a non-punitive facility” without the “restrictions and privations” of the prison was only phase one of what he considered a long journey.
