SALLY?SCOFIELD dazzled and was key in the clutch as she eased to victory in the Colombian Emeralds International/Ameribag Royal Westmoreland Ladies Open Golf tournament.
Scofield, the defending champion, beat out 84 other competitors to claim the top prize in the event which was held March 6 and 7 at the Royal Westmoreland golf course.
Other winners included Brenda Phillips, who was crowned the Ladies’ Overall Silver Champion, and Zarina Belgrave, who won the Bronze Champion Award.
Special mention must be made of 11-year-old Marvi Vergos, who despite not copping an award, played very well throughout the tournament.
For the second year running, men were allowed to enter, and Harry Goodman was the eventual winner of that section.
The winners were rewarded for their performances during an awards ceremony at the Royal Westmoreland Golf Club on Wednesday evening.
The competition, now in its 16th year, seeks to raise funds for the Barbados Cancer Society’s Breast Screening Programme. This year $20 000 was raised, which will go towards the purchase of a new ultrasound machine. (RB)
