Aston Martin one to beat

RACING enthusiasts are in for something special today as one of the best ever fields have assembled to contest the 62nd running of the Barbados Guineas over 1 570 metres at the Garrison Savannah.
The Grade 1 feature event for West Indian-bred three-year-old horses carries a stakes value of $69 800. All of the 12 horses entered are winners and are seeking to capture the first leg of the Barbados Triple Crown.
Aston Martin has done everything his connection of owner Mark Armstrong and trainer Victor Cheeseman have asked so far, despite a minor setback when he missed the Michael Parravicino Memorial Hopeful Breeders’ Stakes & Trophy over 1 570 metres, won by Finbar.
This colt, with champion rider Anderson Trotman astride, will be the one to beat when the gates fly at around 4:25 p.m.
