Anglican?Bishop Dr John Holder says there is still much hope for this country, despite business closures and the tough economic climate.
In his sermon at St Mary’s Anglican Church yesterday morning marking the 40th anniversary service of the Central Bank of Barbados, Holder said that in the midst “of all the bad news around us”, hope could be connected to institutions such as the Central Bank and the church.
“Any sign of hope should not, however, lead us to ignore the challenges that we still face. We cannot gloss over the harsh facts and the figues given to us by the Central Bank and other institutions.
“But in spite of the bad news of closures, layoffs and downturns, in spite of the high cost of living that we face, we can still have hope that there will be better days,” he said.
Holder, who is also Archbishop of the West Indies, spoke before a packed congregation that included Acting Governor General Elliot Belgrave, Central Bank Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell and retired Central Bank Governor Calvin Springer. (MK)
