SARGASSUM SEAWEED, which covered much of the island’s coastline late last year, has returned. This time it has been washing ashore mainly in the north of the island, with many of the beaches along the St Lucy coast covered with the seaweed, which gives off a strong odour.
This Ricardo Leacock picture, taken at River Bay yesterday, highlights the extent of the problem, with the seaweed now covering much of the beach, which is a popular picnic spot. (ES)
