Effervescent 21-year-old Marielle Wilkie is Miss Barbados World 2012.
In an official handover at Limegrove Centre, Holetown, St James, Saturday night at a cocktail party, Wilkie was crowned by outgoing 2011 queen Taisha Carrington.
Wilkie was third runner-up in the 2011 pageant and was chosen to wear the crown through a process of elimination. In the absence of a traditional pageant, and by internal instruction, the Miss Barbados World Organization will send Wilkie to represent the island at the Miss World competition in Ordos, China, next month.
