PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Six months after he suffered a stroke that left him partly paralysed his right side, former prime minister Patrick Manning is due home tomorrow after completing his therapy programme in the United states, according to a statement issued by his family.
In a brief statement, they said that Manning, who called a snap general election and lost in May 2010, “is currently preparing to return home to continue his theraphy locally.
“Manning will be arriving at Piarco International Airport on Tuesday at 9.45 pm (local time),” the statement said, adding that “the gains have been tremendous and we are deeply appreciative of all the support that has been proffered throughout this challenge”.
In January, Manning, 66, the longest serving legislator here, suffered an embolism that causes an obstruction of an artery to the brain which results in difficulty in breathing, chest pains, fever and rapid heartbeat and eventually a stroke. (CMC)
