The girls from Brittons Hill have another Barbados Workers’ Union title – and are still in line for another.
Led by goal shooter Salisha Holder, Brittons Hill Combined came back from an early eight-goal deficit before winning the junior knockout netball title in Monday’s gripping 20-16 comeback win over Shottas at the Netball Stadium.
Starting the final with just five players, Brittons Hill watched their opponents score the game’s first eight goals unanswered before Shottas held a 12-6 halftime lead.
But Holder entered the game in the ensuing third period and Brittons Hill held Shottas to just one goal in the quarter during a 6-1 rally before blowing open the game in the final stanza.
Holder converted 13 of her 19 attempts while Paulette Armstrong was one from seven and Shelly Carmichael one from three. For Shottas, Shanice Jackman scored six of her 11 tries and Keyla Yearwood was ten from 18.
Brittons Hill’s senior counterparts, who earlier won the Leroy Trotman League, had also advanced to that zone’s knockout title game against A&A Connections tonight.
Hillside LIME Newbury reached the knockout final of the Linda Brooks Zone after leading from pillar to post in a 24-18 semi-final victory over Korecc Auto Beverley Hills Ballers.
Vanessa Bobb converted all but three of her 20 attempts while Tamiesha Forde went one from three for the winners. Janelle Brathwaite led Beverley Hills with 17 from 27, Leticha Busby was five from seven, while Beverley Marsh netted two of five.
The Barbados Under-21 side sealed third place in the Leroy Trotman Zone after downing Korecc Auto Beverley Hills 51-39. National goal shooter Shonica Wharton was 36 of 48, Shannon Hackett went six from seven, and Vanessa Reid-Cox converted nine of her 12 attempts.
The Leroy Trotman and Linda Brooks finals are slated for tonight at 6 p.m. at the same venue. (JM)
