The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending today in Barbados.
Reports that a teenaged couple has been charged with kidnapping a 56-year-old woman who is now undergoing some counseling as a result of her abduction has readers talking this morning. The young couple demanded $10 000 for her release.
This is what some readers are saying:
John Watson: “So kidnapping has reached us?  As good citizens we all need to support the prevention of crime. Report every suspicious activity. If you are wrong, so what?  But if you did not report it and a crime is committed, then we could have avoided it.”
Kamal Mahtani: “I don’t know what is worse. The kidnapping, or the fact that kids were behind it. Time for some reform in Bim. With the events that transpired in Connecticut last week, serious thought should be made towards mental illness. There are kids in Bim going through the same struggle and this is just the start.”
Rich DjRich Bonn: “They need to make an example with these two because it is only a matter of time before someone else try to do this again in Bim.”
Conchita Moseley:  “She is lucky to escape with her life. Were they paid the ransom money? What happened to we in Bim? Time for some stiff sentences.
Margaret Ross: “Put them to work cleaning up the areas in Barbados that are overgrown with bush, or put them to help those seniors who needs help with going to the bathroom bathing, walking, going to the stores, etc., after they have served the time for their crime. I couldn’t believe this is happening in Bim.”
