The Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) has called on Government to move swiftly to provide the policies and economic activities needed to maintain employment and beef up its revenues in 2013.
In addition, president of the BCCI, Lalu Vaswani, has urged business owners to find “innovative means of sustaining profitable business activity”.
Vaswani said that although many businesses were experiencing a decrease in reserves and profits as a consequence of rising energy costs and reduced demand for products and services, they should avoid, wherever possible, reliance on reducing staff levels to contain costs.
On Saturday general secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union, Sir Roy Trotman, called on Government to implement immediately initiatives that would stimulate business while improving Barbados’ image as a place in which to invest. (MM)
