TELECOMMUNICATIONS?GIANT LIME says it is proceeding with its disconnection of Sunbeach Communications for non-payment.
The company issued a statement yesterday stating that the High Court had ruled in its favour in the legal action which Sunbeach brought claiming that LIME?was in breach of the competition law.
“LIME?successfully defended the case brought by Sunbeach which claimed that LIME?was in breach of the Fair Competition Act,” the LIME  statement said. “LIME?is pleased that the High Court ruled in our favour. We gave Sunbeach many months of extended credit to allow them time to raise finance. Sunbeach has not met its repayment obligations and has made several promises to settle its debts but unfortunately to date, has failed to do so. As a result LIME will have to disconnect services to them.”
When contacted yesterday, chairman of Sunbeach Communications, Scott Weatherhead, expressed surprise at the statement issued by LIME, adding Sunbeach had informed LIME it was taking the matter to the Court of Appeal and had also made a formal application to the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) to hear the case.
