One writer wrote: “There are many different words that can describe art. This includes whimsical, abstract, aesthetic, baroque, cubist, folksy and minimalist. When it comes to art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
The question is, what happens when “the eye of the beholder” is met with scores of paintings – all with their special touch of beauty?
Maybe that question can be answered when you pay a visit to the Frangipani Art Gallery at Sugar Cane Club Hotel, Maynard’s, St Peter.
It is there that you will be presented with a barrage of questions. Which painting should I choose? Should I go for an oil painting or a watercolour? What about sculptures? Wouldn’t clay creations be a better choice? Do I need a big painting or would a smaller painting work best?
With numerous paintings, sculptures, ceramics and other art forms from which to choose, making a decision can be quite tough.
The Frangipani Art Gallery is also filled with the works of many Caribbean and international artists, including those from Haiti, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago and Bali.
If you’re looking for adventure while viewing great pieces of art, Frangipani’s collection is a great choice. (CH)
