Move for closer African links

IN?ITS pursuit of closer ties with countries in Africa, Barbados will soon appoint a consular official in Kenya.
This was revealed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Maxine McClean as she addressed the third annual conference of the Commission for Pan-African Affairs on Saturday, Africa Day, at the Old Spirit Bond in The City.
In congratulating the commission on its education and awareness programme in primary and secondary schools, McClean challenged the organization to engage the African continent in endeavours that create economic opportunities.
In this context she referred to Barbados’ “vigorous involvement” through CARICOM and organizations such the African, Caribbean and Pacific group of nations. (GA)
