AN ELDERLY WOMAN had to be rescued from her home, which was destroyed by a fire at Spruce Street, The City, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Gloria Durant, said to be in her 80s, was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
A house occupied by Ashley Hinds was also extensively damaged, while that occupied by Caldin Hadaway, his wife Althea and four children received significant damage to one side.
Screams coming from a neighbour’s house alerted Jacklyn Gittens that something was wrong and she soon realized that Durant’s house was on fire and the occupant needed help. (RL)
