Public buses must wait

THERE WAS a traffic diversion as well as obstruction to traffic going in both directions as tree-trimming on Rockley Main Road, Christ Church, continued yesterday.
The slight delay did not sit well with several impatient passengers en route to Bridgetown in a Transport Board bus. They verbally attacked the driver with foul language because he did not divert as drivers of private vehicles were doing but opted to wait until the truck collecting the cut branches moved out of the way.
Head of marketing and communication at the Transport Board, Lynda Holder, told the DAILY NATION the driver was doing what all the board’s drivers were instructed to do in such circumstances.
She explained that drivers could only divert if instructed to do so by police, fire officials or personnel from the Ministry of Transport and Works.
