No CPL, festival clash

THE UPCOMING Caribbean Premier League (CPL) cricket will not interfere with Crop Over events; it will even enhance them, said National Cultural Foundation chief executive officer Cranston Browne.
Browne, speaking to the DAILY NATION on Saturday after the official promotion/launch of Pan In De City And Cruise: Pan In Two Cities in Speightstown, he said the CPL matches were being marketed to coexist with Crop Over.
“They are actually billing their cricket as Calypso Cricket, so I think they are marketing it as part of the festival and I think the two will come together and be an overall benefit to the country in terms of visitor arrivals and so on.
“I think the cricket will bring people here and there will be a spin-off for the festival as well. We will get the cultural enthusiasts coming to the island and we will get the cricket enthusiasts coming and it should turn out to be beneficial,” he said.  (CA)
