Man stabbed during altercation

Police are investigating an altercation between two Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) employees earlier today.
As a result one employee had to seek medical attention for stab wounds.
According to police reports, around 11:15 a.m. two male employees were involved in an altercation on the compound of the Government agency, which left 55-year-old SSA driver Owen Weir with stab wounds. He was reportedly stabbed three times about the body.
Weir was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance where his injuries were not assessed to be life threatening.
When contacted, SSA’s Public Relations Officer Carl “Alf” Padmore said SSA’s management was investigating the matter.
Up to press time, Police Public Relations Office Inspector David Welch said the employee, who inflicted the stab wounds, was being sought in connection with the matter. (AH)
