Market ‘not a car park’

The old Fairchild Street market is not a car park and those who place their vehicles there are being warned that they do so at their own risk.
Manager of Markets Henderson Greaves told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday that it was unsafe to park under the steel structure and the division would be working to have the area cleared and appropriate signage erected prohibiting the public from doing so.
He added they would be issuing a notice through the Government Information Service to motorists to desist from the practice.
“We are not encouraging people to park in the area or under the metal structures because if any object falls or damages vehicles or people, the department will not be held responsible.”
