OVER DRINKS AND FISHCAKES, the local chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators celebrated A Bajan Christmas at the Lime Bar on Thursday evening at Limegrove.
President of the organization Lynda Holder said the event was meant to give existing members an opportunity to network, while gauging the interest of new additions in “an informal setting”.
She believed IABC was a good outlet for training those who were chosen as “the face” of a company.
“There are many people who may represent a company that might not be trained in business communication . . . and they would be the ones with the responsibility for the company’s image and guide their approach,” Holder said on Thursday.
“We can expose what the chapter can do and how it can expose members both regionally and internationally.”
The IABC president also noted that IABC also staged professional development events, including speechwriting, seminars and customer service in a digital age.
The evening of laughs and “talking shop” saw more than a dozen professional business communicators. (LW)
