Clarke firing wild, says Inniss

Minister of Industry Donville Inniss says labour leader Dennis Clarke needs to stop getting his union members all riled up and firing “wild” shots across Government’s bow.
Inniss was responding to Clarke’s charge that ministers had known of the job cuts planned for Government’s Drainage Unit but did not have the “guts” to admit the truth to their constituents.
Inniss yesterday dismissed the claim as lacking any “semblance of truth” and said Clarke, general secretary of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), was “just trying to rile up the members of his trade union by firing these wild shots across the bow”.
The minister added: “As a trade union leader, he has to be more responsible. He has to stop this childish behaviour and demonstrate more maturity.” (TY)
