LOUD MUSIC and energetic routines were the order of the evening as the National Task Force on Physical Activity and Exercise held its latest public exercise programme in The City.
Denise Carter Taylor, senior health promotion officer in the Ministry of Health, said Monday’s event in Independence Square, in celebration of World Health Day, was part of their mandate to get Barbadians more physically active.
The activity – which attracted more than 200 men, women and children – included aerobics, tai chi and dance, among others. It also featured the distribution of guidelines on physical education and exercise.
“We planned it to take place from 5 to 7 p.m. as this would be convenient for people leaving work in the Bridgetown area. I’m pleased with the turnout and I want to encourage Barbadians to exercise every day for at least 30 minutes,” said Carter Taylor.
