Death baffles cousin

A seemingly senseless killing has robbed a talented young man of his life.
Charley Dume, 25, of Christ Church, was gunned down Friday around 6 p.m. while on the job in the Coyote’s Den at the corner of Nelson and Wellington Streets, The City, following a dispute. He died later at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Owner of the bar, his cousin Evens “Haitian” Marcelin, was present when the incident occurred. He said his cousin was shot several times.
Dume was a quiet person who did not have any quarrels with anyone, Marcelin added.
“Charley does move slow, talk slow and does everything slow. He does not talk to nobody [meaning quarrel] but they gone and kill an innocent youth,” he said.
Marcelin said Dume lived with him in St Patrick’s and worked as a shop assistant in the bar. He said his cousin was an aspiring reggae artiste who had already recorded three songs – two with music videos – and had just signed a deal to produce nine tracks.
