TWO OF BARBADOS’ biggest names in the calypso arena will not be in the battle for this year’s Pic-O-De-Crop competition.
Mighty Gabby (Anthony Carter) yesterday joined Red Plastic Bag (Stedson Wiltshire) in declaring that he too was sitting out the calypso battle in the 2014 Crop Over Festival.
“I’m just not feeling it and I am not even sure if I am going to sing in the tents. My mind isn’t there,” Gabby said.
However, the nine-time calypso monarch said he was busy “writing for a few people” this year, including young calypsonians who will be competing in the Junior Monarch competitions.
